Ana Krstajić is a composer from Belgrade, Serbia. She holds Master degrees in Classical Composition (University of Arts, Belgrade) and Scoring for Film, TV and Video Games (Berklee)
During her studies she displayed interest for research in various fields of composition that enabled her to write some excellent pieces. Her ability to penetrate into the specific sound properties of different music expressions enabled her to compose the works which produce impression on the listeners primarily because of the accurate and precise articulation of their musical intentions, the authenticity of their musical language and their ability to break from known stylistic determinants, and their combinations, into new and exotic grounds of music. An exquisite feature of Ana Krstajić’s talent is also represented in her apprehension of the Balkan music tradition, i.e. the part of it that intertwines with oriental music elements.
“Although I was mostly surrounded by funk and jazz music while I grew up, the movies introduced me to the grand orchestral sound that I fell in love with. Through film I actually came across the works of classical composers from the 20th century that influenced me the most as a writer. After the first live performance of the Rite of Spring that I heard while I was in high school, I knew that I want to try to write music that can evoke the same feeling I had while listening to Stravinsky’s work. It was the feeling of freedom.”
She is a recipient of HMMA Award (Los Angeles, CA) as well as Muzika Klasika award for the best media composer in 2023 (Serbia).
